On behalf of the Falcon family,

We are excited about providing meangingful academic opportunities that support and enhance our goal of enriching the minds of our students. Through collaborative efforts between the school, parents, and community, we can prepare our children for the next endeavors in their lives. Recognizing the various unique abilities of our students; work hand in hand with our theme to SOAR. (Seek excellence, Opt to use good manners, Activate listening and learning skills, Respect self and others)

Parents are encouraged to be actively involved with their children and with the school. Our children are at critical points in their lives so we push to forge those lasting partnerships to help stimulate their minds by changinging their mindsets for optimal skill building; thus creating memorable learning experiences.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to help mold and educate the young minds of the students at Chestnut Oaks Middle School. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone (803) 775-7272 or email lashawnte.sarvis@sumterschools.net

Lashawnte Sarvis, Principal

Teacher of the Year for 2013-2014

On behalf of the Chestnut Oaks Middle School Family, I would like to thank you for your recommendation and beseech you for your support as I endeavor to be the best teacher I can be. I consider it an honor to be chosen teacher of the year for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.

My greatest challenge is to create inspiring and creative ways to teach my students. I have no greater desire than to teach. I think teaching is the most important career of all professions. Through teaching we reach all students. What other career can boast of such great a contribution as teaching?

Mrs. Frances Sapp
Special Education Teacher

Chestnut Oaks Middle maintained their Silver General Performance rating for two consecutive years and earned a Silver rating for Closing the Achievement Gap.

Are you ready for 7th Grade?

All students entering, advancing or transferring into 7th grade need proof of an adolescent whooping cough booster immunization (called "Tdap").

Pertussis is a very contagious respiratory disease that can be severe and last for months. The immunity received from either early childhood immunization or pertussis disease wears off over time, leaving older students and adults susceptable again to pertusis. Immunization with Tdap can protect students, schools and communities against pertussis.

For more information you can visit www.scdhec.gov/scimmunize or contact your school nurse at 775-7272.
