Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures: Car riders should be picked up and dropped off on the circular driveway at the front of the school on Oswego Road.  Students are not to be picked up or dropped off in the bus port area. Students are expected to use a school district issued Chromebook to engage in learning activities and completion of assignments. Students new to Sumter School District will be issued a district Chromebook from Chestnut Oaks Middle School during  the first week of school.

Immunization Requirements Notification for Parents

Please be aware that the status of your child’s immunizations required for school attendance by SCDHEC is currently being audited district wide. If your child’s immunization record is found to be missing or invalid, you will be notified by letter with a request to present a Valid SC Immunization Certificate within 30 days. General Guidance for South Carolina Immunization Requirements for the School Year 2023-2024 can be found at :

How can my child get a district-issued Chromebook?
• Sumter School District’s One-to-Global initiative provides a technology device for each student in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.
• Students who are having issues with technology will be provided with avenues to contact the school media specialist or Chromebook manager for technical support. This will include issues with internet, applications, software, and technology tools.

• If you are in need of additional technology support, click here to complete an IT Support Request. A systems technician will reach out immediately from 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Friday.

How do I obtain access to Wi-Fi?

In an effort to prepare for online instruction, Sumter School District would like to reach out to families who do not have access to the Internet. To be eligible for a wireless hotspot you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have a student in the household;
  • Not have internet;
  • Have a household income at or below 250% of federal poverty;
  • Need internet for educational purposes in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you meet these requirements please call 803-469-6900, extension 502 or 406 to register.

Students who are leaving the district are required to return their Chromebooks to their current school.  Students are encouraged to keep their Chromebooks in working condition for virtual or face to face instruction.

Consequences for Chromebook Alerts

  • Consequences for students  locked out of their devices more than once for unauthorized or inappropriate use:
  • First offense: Verbal Warning
  • Second Offense: Guidance Conference/Parent Contact
  • Third Offense: 15 days without device (paper packet for assignments)
  • Fourth Offense: Administration

Dress Code Policy for the 2024-2025 school year.

Your child is not expected to wear a  uniform to  school this year but proper dress code will be enforced per the Sumter School District’s Dress Code Policy. Parents will be contacted and asked to bring replacement clothes for students outside the dress code boundries.
