Hispanic Heritage Month

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th – October 15th), we wanted to highlight some of the customs and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.  Over 50 million Americans today originate from Latino or Spanish origins and have played an important role in our history.

Hispanic culture is rich in beautiful dances (such as the salsa and flamenco), mariachi bands, delicious food (tacos, tamales, mole, empanadas, tortillas, and paella), and upbeat music by artists such as Selena, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias, and Marc Anthony.

It is important for all of us to appreciate the diversity that exists in our country and in the world.   Without diversity, life would be pretty boring!  Instead of judging others because of their differences, let’s learn about each other and what makes us unique.

Attached are two short videos about Hispanic Heritage Month, a video showcasing Latin dances, and a video on Hispanic food.  Enjoy!
