The counselors at Chestnut Oaks want to remind you to take care of yourself – physically, mentally, and emotionally – during the pandemic.
All of us go through hard times, but please remember that YOU MATTER (parents and students alike) and there are resources and people out there that can help you get through hard times. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. If you are thinking about hurting yourself, please reach out to an adult, counselor, pastor, friend, etc. if you aren’t comfortable doing that, please call or text the following numbers:
– Call 911 immediately if you or someone you know is in an emergency or mental health crisis
– Call the National Suicide Hotline at 1-800-273 TALK (8255) if you are in crisis or are experiencing difficult or suicidal thoughts
– Text NAMI to 741-741 if you are uncomfortable talking on the phone and you will be connected to a free, trained crisis counselor on the Crisis Text Line
– Call 803-775-7898 or 833-364-2274 for the 24/7 on-call Santee Wateree counselor
Remember that “it is ok to not be ok” all the time. We are human and will experience a range of emotions. But also remember that we are all here together to help each other. Tell someone if you need help or if you notice a friend that needs help. Attached are two short video links regarding this topic.
